history: Enjoy This History

Gaia was summoned to Kamurkia and bonded to the dragon soul of the Steel Dragon, Kellen Mahul who was once the world's equivalent of a famous travel blogger. Once Gaia realized there really wasn't a way back any time soon and she was 'stuck' with this whole process of 'changing into some famous dragon bonded hero thing', she did focus her attention on practical things. Finding a home, doing her best to avoid the ire and antics of the local Fae and getting ready to deal with the unpleasant side of the transformation.

While she has been known not to be the greatest at expressing herself in a friendly and engaging manner, she even became close with the younger edition of Sephiroth that appeared as well as a young adventurer named Popp. Well you know, friends, even if that word wasn't really used. After a sort. She had begun picking up life skills during her time in the Crystarium back home, but more had to be learned as she became much more reliant on herself and dealt with the relatively harsher conditions of life on Kamurkia (a medieval D&Desque fantasy world recovering from the end of a calamity).

Exploration was limited as some mysterious force was keeping them from going too far into the world without consequence and the transformations to a draconic being were often uncomfortable if not painful. As winter came, the younger Sephiroth disappeared during a snowstorm; later to be confirmed to have been taken elsewhere, perhaps 'home'.

Being a practical young woman, she knew there wasn't much she could do at the time, though she reached out to the local god for as much information as he could manage to find out and started making plans of what to do once there was more of the world to explore and the changes wound to their conclusion. In the midst of this preparation and waiting, she was also summoned away from Kamurkia... but it wasn't back to home.

abilities: Titled the Oracle of Darkness, Gaia is in tune with FFXIV's interpretation of the 'Darkness' element; essentially a pole of balance opposite 'Light' that the other six elements can be weighted toward and embodying 'activity, growth and transformation' states. It is neither good nor evil. She is particularly sensitive to the presence of the element and may be recognized as heavily attuned to 'Darkness' (however that is interpreted by other individuals). She is immune or at least heavily warded against elemental 'tempering' due to her alignment with Darkness and ascian nature. Gaia is also the reincarnation of the Ascian Lohgrif and through the events she experienced retains access to a great deal of ascian powers including teleportation, magic, the ability to harness creation magic (though on a smaller scale than the Unsundered or Ancients of her canon's far past) and transformation.

Gaia's fighting style is a combination of sorcery and phyiscal attacks with the hammer, Hyposkhesphyra. Magic leanings are toward a dark-infused fire, teleportation, time spells, dual casting, lacerating energy or petrification. She largely relies on almost instinctive memory and skills for fighting and has only limited experience at this point in refining her techniques for practical combat; largely relying on overwhelming her opponents or the element of surprise. No one expects the dainty goth girl conjuring a massive hammer, right?

Other relevant practical skills she's learned during her time in Kamurkia are hunting, trapping and fishing, how to skin and butcher, some facts and setup about gardening (mostly in theory, it was going on winter when she arrived), and improving sewing and cooking skills. She's also had a lot of practice in writing prose and books.

Any dragony related powers from CoB will disappear on Etraya.

personality: Gaia's overall demeanor, a bit of vanity in her fashion and appearance and a bit of aloof vibe can be attributed to the affluent lifestyle she grew up in as a citizen of Eulmore; something that persists where most other memories of her past don't. While this sometimes did suggest she was snobbish and DID make her focus on self-centered goals, it was slowly revealed that she wasn't as uncaring as she seemed to be and that some of it was a defense against all the mysteries surrounding her life at the time. Gaia shows that, despite her upbringing, she's fully willing to work toward the goal of learning the skills and knowledge needed for her new lifestyle, acknowledging that she can't rely on money or other people to care for her (in the sense of how Eulmore citizens conducted themselves). She's not afraid to speak what's on her mind, though at least it's generally not malicious in nature; more like she lacks a strong filter. And she can be very prickly, particularly toward people she doesn't know or new social situations and especially when she's in an unknown situation and under stress.

Overall, teenage girl willingly learning how to live a more humble life than she was used to. May exhibit signs of rampant tsundere behavior. Rich Girl Vibe. Totally keeps a diary. Will not eat coffee biscuits with just anyone, you know.

As her time on Kamurkia grew longer, she began to absorb traits of the dragon that inhabited her soul. Many were simply amplifying interests she already had; in stories and recording her daily experiences. But Gaia has also picked up a bit of wanderlust; at least the urge to explore new experiences and places since traveling Kamurkia was limited by circumstances during her time there. She's also gained a strong curiosity in cultures, foods and the arts that hasn't been completely realized, causing her to become more engaging and open than she normally might expected to be by those who knew her on the First. And if she collects a lot of interesting cultural doodads and squirrels them away in her living space, who's to judge her?
